OBJUMP is a competitive team, which travels for workshops, competitions and shows.
There is not a fee to be on the team, unlike most jump rope teams, but there are fees while you are on the team:
-purchase the uniform, accessories and jump ropes
-pay for your attendance at workshops, and travel there
-pay for your attendance at competitions, and travel there
Competitions & workshops cost about $70 per person and we attend at least 7 yearly. Depending on the jumper’s skill level, they may be asked to compete in our national competition. This is typically not for first year jumpers, but exceptions have been made.
We do have fundraisers to help defray the cost of participation on the team, but please do understand that there is a monetary requirement to be on OBJUMP!
There are also practices throughout the year. We practice 2-3 times a week during the non-competition season (oct-dec) but we can practice up to 4 times a week prior to a competition. Jumpers are also expected to practice on their own daily.
Parents are expected to attend meetings and practices, as well as become trained as judges. This is not mandatory the first year, but parents are involved in helping your child be successful. This is required for us to be able to compete. Parents must keep contact with Mrs. Mentzer about questions or concerns and if your child must miss a practice, you must notify Mrs. Mentzer the day before if possible, but before practice starts for sure.
The opportunity to develop jumping skills, teamwork skills, leadership skills, learn winning and losing skills, develop a hard work ethic and self-motivation and drive are the best of what OBJUMP has to offer and will happen while being a member of OBJUMP!
The kids on this team work hard! Parents need to want this for their child and be willing to take on the responsibility of the information given above, and above all the jumper has to want this!
There are only several spots available to be on the team right now. If you feel you are ready as a family for this commitment, please fill out the attached form and return it to school and to Mrs. Mentzer by FRIDAY APRIL 22,2022. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at jmentzer@oberlinschools.net or objumprope@gmail.com

We will practice Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday at OES starting Monday May 2nd for 1 week.
We will practice after school, 3:30 until 5:00. The following week on Monday May 9th, we will be having tryouts.
The jumpers will need to demonstrate the required skills to be on the team. You are encouraged to use our webpage www.objump.org and my google classroom and also the tricktionary booklet I will give you’re jumper as well as the Trictionary.com website to watch the jumping tricks to learn.
Just because your child tries out for the team, doesn’t mean they will make the team – There will be other opportunities to try again as well!
